NurtureThe Nurture committee oversees the activities of the congregation that serve to nurture the faith of members of all age levels. Included within the scope of this working group are: - Educational programs of all levels, such as Sunday Church School, Vacation Bible School, Adult Education, Catechetics, and Wings
- Youth Ministries that seek to assist the youth in the development and expression of their Christian faith and in the strengthening of their relationships to one another
- Fellowship activities that provide opportunities for the members of the congregation to develop deeper relationships and greater udnerstanding, appreciation, concern, and joy for one another
- Assisting all members participation in the ministry of pastoral care
- Stewardship programs that inspire the informed, grateful and growing giving of time, abilities, and money in both the work of the church and in the life of the community
Outreach: Evangelism and Social MinistryThe Outreach committee oversees the efforts of the congregation to reach out with the gospel, through word and deed, to the community. The primary responsibilities of this committee include: - Developing and supervising programs of invitation to the non-churched
- Fostering a welcoming and inviting climate in the congregation
- Studying and interpretting community trends and needs
- Developing and implementing programs to respond to the needs of people within the community and beyond
- Fostering relationships with other congregations
Resources: Property and FinanceThe Resources committee oversees the property and finances of the congregation. Its primary responsibilities include: - Maintenance of the buildings, grounds, furnishings, and equipment of the congregation
- Provision for adequate insurance coverage
- Recommending policies for the use of congregation facilities, furnishings, and equipment
- Overseeing the financial affairs of the congregation to make sure that they are being conducted efficiently
- Preparing an annual budget for action by the council and the congregation
VisionThe Vision committee provides on-going leadership in focusing on the congregation's mission and achieving visioning goals. This leadership includes: - Providing regular reminders of the mission and proposing means for fulfilling it
- Maintaining and prioritizing lists of long- and short-term action items
- Monitoring progress on action items
- Acting as liaisons with other committees
- Providing regular feedback to the council and congregation
Worship and MusicThe Worship and Music committee oversees the worship life of the congregation. Its primary responsibilities include: - Seeing that parish worship is conducted regularly and in accordance with the traditions of the Lutheran Church
- Recruitment and training (as needed) for assisting ministers, lectors, acolytes, ushers, altar guilds, choirs, and other musicians
- Providing care for worship books, music, paraments, vestments, banners, and musical instruments
- Furnishing music supplies, devotional materials, and other worship supplies
- Exploring and implementing practices which maintain and enhance the vitality of worship
- Providing continuing education opportunities for music staff
